Bilateral Cooperation of the National Post Company and the National Cartographic Center(NCC) to launch GNAF Project

 

The location-based standardized address (GNAF) was the subject of the National Post Company of I.R.Iran ,and the National Cartographic Center’s meeting in which the latter organization declared its commitment  to provide all the required maps for the project.

According to the Public Relations Bureau of the National Post Company, the meeting was hosted by the National Cartographic Center on Wednesday, September 26, and was attended by Shafiei, head of the center, Barary, Deputy Minister and Head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA), and Nemati, Deputy Minister, Chairman of the board and Managing Director of the National Post Company of Iran and a group of managers from attending organizations.

The head of National Cartographic Center of Iran at the meeting emphasized the main authority and responsibilities of NCC for production of maps and spatial information in the GNAF project and stressed the NCC’s commitment to provide all the required maps for the project, saying: "The GNAF National Plan, like Nsdi, is one of the top priority projects in the resistance economy and is beneficial for the society”.

In the following, Nemati, Deputy Minister, Chairman of the board and Managing Director of the National Post Company pointed to the start of launching GNAF operations in metropolitan areas and 70 major cities of the country, and regarded the map production as the most important basis for this national plan.

At the meeting, he, again, emphasized the main authority of the National Cartographic Center (NCC) for production of maps adding that” NCC undertakes supervision and technical control of mapping and spatial information in this national plan which is approved by the president. Reinforcing the collaboration, we will pave the way for achieving the goals of the GNAF”.

The Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology proposed holding more meetings to study all aspects of cooperation.

He noted that basemaps of 522 cities were ready to be used for production of parcel map and other GNAF operational necessities. “We ask the NCC to supervise the plan using the potential of the private sector to provide GNAF with parcels for mapping process”. He added.

Barari, Deputy minister and head of Iran Space Agency (ISA), also regarded the GNAF national project as a platform for implementation of e-government, and said:” GNAF makes it possible to check and verify a physical address with its geographic location”.

He added: "Nowadays, wealthy and powerful countries are generating data and massive information by investing millions of dollars. In today’s economy, the increase of services is associated with exchange of information. Therefore, we need to generate information through identifying the market in line with the e-government.

The head of ISA pointed to the country's biggest economical challenge, the $ 1,500 billion of unplanned capital, saying that generating information data could organize the country's economic activities and financial affairs.

In continuation of the meeting, a report on the National Grade of the country and part of the aerial photography activities by the National Cartographic Center (NCC), was also presented.
